Victorian Cranberry Opaline Glass Candy Stripe Hanging Hall Light Lamp Lantern.
Stunning Victorian antique rise and fall cranberry with opalescent candy stripe ribbed optic glass shade/lantern, is fitted with all original brass fittings and chain adjustable canopy which would allow the shade to be raised and lowered for lighting.Circa 1880.All original...not electrified.Though is quite an easy job with only a ceiling hook and pendant required.

The glass shade is in good condition.Has a little nick at the bottom where the glass shade sits and is not visible (photo 9).The wheels are made of wood that guide the chains and one has a chip as shown, still operates fine...there are signs of usage wear with odd scratches with some rubbing, marking etc.The brass fittings have odd dinks, tarnishing etc...with old polish residue ....all noted but nothing major and does not detract in anyway from this superb lantern.Originally a candle or oil peg lamp would of been used...ideally an led lantern or similar could be used rather than electrifying....left as is for new owner to decide.
Measures around a 22" overall drop (top to bottom).Though the chains can be shortened by around 14" if required.
The glass shade measures around 8"tall with a diameter at widest point of around 8".
