It measures about 8 1/4" (210mm) tall (10 1/2" 267mm to the top of the wicker handle) by 7" (178mm) across to the top of the spout, and 5 3/4" (146mm) in diameter.
Provenance: This piece has been in our personal collection of artifacts si...nce my mother's death in 2008; prior to that it was at my parents' house in Phoenix. AZ. This was actually my mother's primary teapot in the home in Denmark where I grew up. The piece has been well cared for in a smoke free home; it is in remarkably good condition for a used item of its age, the wicker handle is intact (which can be an issue with these when they get used a lot), and there are no chips, scratches or other damage, aside from minor patina and darkening on the underside of the base from daily wear. The crack in the base has always been there and does NOT extend through the glaze to the inside, and didn't give my mom any issues serving tea, although at this point I feel that this lovely piece deserves to retire from "active duty."
Dates to about the 1960's; the glaze is really beautiful and "soft, " and is a type of "hare's fur" glaze as Palshus is quite known for.
This is a lovely piece of Mid-Century Danish Design; a similar teapot sold here on eBay in August 2019, for US $429.00 (auction number 123848437024) and I would estimate this to have a similar value, but I welcome any serious offers.
NOTE: This will be shipped via PRIORITY MAIL, both to the USA and overseas. If you're an international buyer, duties and taxes are 100% YOUR responsibility!
We are just individuals selling our stuff; not "dealers!" We are thinning out some of our rather extensive collection of home decor, original art, art books, catalogues, antiques, old stamp collections and other collectibles. The kids have left home and have expressed that they are "not interested" and we are basically "downsizing" and simplifying our lives. This is an ongoing process that will last many months (years?)... hope our treasures find good homes and enjoyment elsewhere; we have loved having them, but now they need new happy homes!
