Giant, northern form of Livonia mammilla (Sowerby, 1844) F++/F+++, ~280 mm, Queensland, Australia, now available. This is a very sizeable example of the very difficult to obtain Queensland form - to my knowledge, this form has never been formally named but differs in exhibiting a commonly more densely reticulated pattern, a slightly more angulated shoulder and typically also larger size. While this piece has some growth marks and rather minor impurities, it is in remarkable condition f...or this large volute. The colouration pattern is extraordinarily regular, broken into two broad transverse bands, and with an interesting 'T' shape due to a longitudinal pigmentation break about two inches from the labrum. A superb piece suitable for advanced volute collection.
