Rotary Mechanical Date Automatic, 25 Jewel, Large 34mm 9ctGold Dennison Case, 20th-Century Vintage The original and unrestored silver-white dial is in mintcondition, it's signed 'Rotary', '25 Jewels' and 'Self-Winding' below. A subtleminute track lines the perimeter of the dial. A single Arabic numeral is at 12, the rest of the hours are marked with yellow gilt dagger hour indices. An apertureat 3 displays the watches date function. The solid 9ct yellow gold case was made by ...Dennison, a very prestigiouscase maker in Birmingham, used by all the greatest watch houses in the mid-20thcentury, Rolex and Omega for example. It's no surprise that the case is stillin impeccable condition, the threads on the screw-back are still smooth andeffortless to use, and there are no significant marks or scratches visible tothe naked eye. At 34mm it's a large watch for the period, and a veryrespectable size in todays fashion. The movement is a 25 Jewel Calibre 4002 Felsa DateAutomatic, with a full rotor winding mechanism. As can be seen in thephotographs the movement is in impeccable condition. The rotor swings smoothly, with little resistance and the date function works fully as expected. It's a SwissMade mechanical movement, so you can always be confident that the movement willremain strong and true, as long as the movement continues to be regularlyserviced. An electronic time-grapher reads that the watch is running at +8seconds per day, which makes it well within the tolerances to be appropriatefor day to day use. Watch sold as is.
