THIS IS A STUNNING GENTS VINTAGE 1964 ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL "AIR-KING" MODEL REF. 5500 WRISTWATCH IN 9ct SOLID GOLD.
DESCRIPTION. This is an excellent example of the classic Rolex Oyster Perpetual "Air-King" wristwatch. The stunning 9ct solid gold case is in good condition with light age related wear. The stunning original dial has been restored to the highest possible standard and simply looks gorgeous. The ivory/cream dial has raised go...ld spear batons with gold dauphine hands. This watch oozes elegance and has a timeless look. The high grade 26 jewels automatic movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
To complete this fantastic piece, we've put it on a new high quality Hirsch strap and Hirsch gold plated buckle.
CASE. The 9ct solid gold case and bezel is in very good condition with very light age related wear. The case measures 34mm across without the steel Rolex oyster screw-down crown and 39mm long including the lugs. Inside the case back all the markings are correct as expected: Montres Rolex S.A Geneva Switzerland, Patented, Stainless Steel and fully hallmarked for 9ct solid gold. It also has many service markings from over the years, meaning this was a very cared for wristwatch.
DIAL.
The stunning original dial has been restored to the highest possible standard and simply looks gorgeous. The ivory/cream dial has raised gold spear batons with gold dauphine hands.
MOVEMENT. The high grade automatic 26 jewels caliber 1530 movement is in very good condition and has been fully serviced. The calibre 1530 movement is considered accurate, reliable and strong. The movement is signed 'Rolex Geneva Swiss', '26 Fine Rubies', and 1530 what is the calibre number.
The movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
STRAP. To complete this fantastic piece, we've put it on a new high quality Hirsch strap and Hirsch gold plated buckle.
THE BOX AND PAPERS. Like most vintage wristwatches what are over 70 years old, the original certificate and box has been lost or discarded over the years. But even though this watch does not have its original box or certificate, this watch, the reference numbers, markings, signatures and hallmarks are all correct, dating the watch to circa 1964.
