A rare and hugely attractive Arts and Crafts brooch by Bernard Instone c1930. The brooch is large but light and ethereal because of the looseness of the structure but also because of the amazing selection of gemstones used in its construction. This floral bouquet brooch has it all- the large elongated Instone leaves, the additional gilded forget-me-not flowers added onto the silver stems and then...well, instead of the usual long stalked flowers appearing alone-here we also have a... grouping to the left, making a forget-me-not flower too. This grouping shows the love Instone had for amethysts (central flower stone here) and citrines, which are used here for the five petals. An absolutely splendid design all round! The stones used in this brooches symphony are: citrines, amethyst, rose quartz, chrysoprase, carnelian, blue chalcedony and moss agate, which features some carnelian strands too. The condition is excellent, with both the stones and the gold and silver work being in super order. The brooch measures approx 6.7cm in length by approx 4cm at its widest point. No marks but tests as silver.A large and beautifully hand crafted piece, which dazzles in the light. It will please its new owner hugely-I am sure of that! Please note that I will send the brooch by Tracked and Signed, in a new gift box. The box in the images is for display purposes only. Many thanks for looking!
