This listing is for a polished slice of petrified wood from the Brown Bench Circle Cliffs of Garfield County, Utah (Upper Petrified Forest Member, Chinle Formation, Upper Triassic approximately 212 million years before present). It was collected, cut, and polished by a husband and wife duo who spent decades rockhounding throughout the western United States. It weighs roughly 6.8 pounds and measures about 8.5 inches long by 5.75 inches wide. Thickness varies from 1.3 to 1.85 i...nches. The surface is mostly a sea of dark brown to black jasper. There is, however, a lot going on. Patches of lighter brown colors can be found throughout the surface helping to reveal tons of growth rings. Small white and clear cracks are plentiful and filled with quartz and agate. Some really interesting reddish-pink and orange inclusions can be found here and there with the orange mostly occurring along the edges. Finally, it looks like there might be two centers (aka, "double heart") at the tips protruding from the sides of the long lightening bolt (probably calcite) that can be seen cutting through the middle. Please have a look at the pictures posted for this listing. They are unedited and do a great job of showing what the petrified wood looks like.
