For the first time on SeaGems: the coveted Zoila platypyga (McCoy, 1876) 72.3 mm, Middle Miocene (~15 million years), Victoria, Australia. This is a superb piece in extraordinary condition - the canals are intact, the shell is mature and of great weight-to-size ratio, and it looks amazing from virtually every angle. It is also almost entirely intact, with only minor flaking to the enamel on parts of the dorsum (which is the only part of the shell that has received some light archival t...reatment to even out boundaries). Please examine the images closely, as I have done my utmost to show the condition of the shell from every angle. An intriguing species, and a specimen worthy of an advanced collection. It is also extremely rare - far rarer than for instance the co-occurring Umbilia eximia (which is quite rare in its own right). Missing from most collections. Comes with full data. Happy bidding!
