Very are and original, 1930's Cast Iron, Road Grader manufactured by the Kenton Hardware Co. This wonderful, Cast Iron Construction Equipment Toy measures approx. 7 1/2” long overall by 3" tall and 2 3/4" wide across at its separately cast, retractable grader blade.
The surface paint on the Kenton Road Grader is 100% original and very well preserved. It has never been touched up, repainted, restored or altered in any way. The Grader retains all of its orig...inal parts as well as its original white rubber wheels. It is marked "KentonToys".
Founded in 1890 the Kenton Lock Manufacturing Co. began producing toys in 1894 with a line of horse-drawn fire equipment, banks, and toy stoves. Renamed Kenton Hardware in 1900, the company became part of the mammoth National Novelty Corp. merger in 1903 and continued its toy line under the name Wing Mfg. Co. Involved in several unsuccessful takeovers, Kenton eventually emerged as a separate unit, the Kenton Hardware Co., and again produced toys successfully from 1920-1935.
This wonderful, 1930's, Kenton Road Grader is in very good condition. The surface paint is 100% original and has never been repainted, touched-up, restored or altered in any way. The Road Grader retain approx. 85% of its original surface paint and the blade and handle retain nearly all of their original nickel plating. As stated above, the white rubber tires are original with some soiling and surface cracking and small flat spots on the rear tires as can be seen in the scans below. Please see the numerous scans below for a good indication of the condition of this very attractive and highly desirable Cast Iron Toy.
